The Hellenic Telecommunications Organization (OTE) is a full service telecommunications group operating as a societe anonyme under Greek law incorporated in 1949. OTE is the dominant provider of public switched voice telephony in Greece and provides local, long distance and international communications services to Greek and foreign businesses, consumers and government agencies. In addition, the Guarantor offers its customers a range of technologically advanced services including mobile telephony, Internet access, integrated service digital network, high-speed data communications, sales of equipment, asynchronous transfer mode, as well as traditional services, such as leased lines, maritime and satellite communications, telex and telegraphy, audiotex, telecards and directories. The OTE’s vision is to rank among the largest telecommunications companies in Europe, and aims to maximize consumer satisfaction, to achieve a steady increase in revenues and its share in the ever-competitive market. It also aims to participate in the technological, commercial, economic and social changes that are taking place on a global level.
National and international telephony, through the fixed network, are the main source of OTE’s revenue. In 2002, 71,3% of OTE’s turnover came from the provision of telephone services. On 31/12/2002 digitalisation (of the installed base) reached 95,58%. The number of installed connections reached 6.070.659, of which 5.802.559 were digital and 268.100 were analogue. On 31/12/2002 OTE’s personnel decreased by 5,4% compared to 2001 and reached to 18.545
Further to the national and international telephony services and the facilities provided by digital exchanges, OTE provides an extensive line of other services including ISDN, leased lines, data transfer, phonecards, paging, maritime radio-communications, satellite communication, telephone directories, telex, telegraphy, sale of equipment as well as services to third parties.
